Bosphorus and The Two Continents

Full day tour

We are pleased to offer you a very attractive full day tour where you can learn about the buildings and history of life around the two major landforms of Istanbul: the  Golden Horn, a sea tongue that get 7.5 kilometers into the city and was the place chosen by the Greek colonists to found the city of Byzantium, and the Bosphorus Strait or Istanbul Strait. You can do some shopping in the famous, charming Spice Bazaar, before embarking on our cruise through Bosphorus to appreciate from the outside the Rumeli Fortress. After lunch, we will give you free time for shopping and then you will make intercontinental travel between Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus Bridge,  that links the two continents and the two parts of the city, divided by the strait of the same name. On the Asian side, we will visit Beylerbeyi Palace, the former summer residence of Ottoman power that hosted meetings and receptions to important personalities. Eventually we will have a wonderful time in C amlica hill with great views of Bosphorus.

The Golden Horn (from the bus): has several places of interest for tourists. The historic coast pass through the neighborhoods of Fener and Balat, declared a World Heritage Site in 1985, along with other areas of Istanbul. We will visit in a panoramic mode from the bus: Fener, considered the city's Greek neighborhood, which has, for example, the Sveti Stefan Bulgarian Church, built of iron in Vienna and moved, piece by piece, to its present site, where was assembled; the Mosque of the Rose, an ancient Byzantine church converted into a mosque after the Ottoman conquest, the seat of the Fener Greek Patriarchate, a study and reflection center of the Orthodox Church, or the Red Schoolhouse, a striking brick building of that color. We will also see Balat, the old Jewish area, with the Ferruh mosque or the Kethuda Ahrida synagogue, built in the fifteenth century.

The Spice Bazaar: This is one of the oldest bazaars in the city, also known as Egyptian Bazaar and the second largest covered market in the world after the Grand Bazaar. It is located in the busy district of Eminönü, near the New Mosque.

Boat trip along the Bosphorus: This historic strait is one of the most beautiful places in the world, praised in numerous writings and descriptions of travelers since antiquity, inspiration of several works of art. Here you will enjoy the beauty of traditional wooden houses, mansions, palaces, fortresses and the huge bridge linking two continents, Asia and Europe, in a nice boat ride between two seas, the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara.

Rumeli Fortress (from the outside): In order to conquer the city and prevent reinforcements arrival to the Byzantine Constaninople through the Black Sea and the Danube, Fatih Sultan Mehmet, ("The Conqueror"), decided to build a fortress just in front of Anadolu Hisarı Fortress (Asian side Fortress), between 1451 and 1452. Since 1960 this fort is used as a museum and outdoor theater for concerts and summer festivals.

Lunch (Drinks are not included)

Shopping: Free time for shopping. Since Turkey is one of the best leather manufacturing countries in the world, here you can get excellent products. We will pass by some shopping with amazing deals and where fashion shows take place often.

Bosphorus Bridge: The Bosphorus Bridge is a suspension bridge that connects the Asian side to the European side of Istanbul, across the strait of the same name. Opened in 1973, it has 1074 meters long and 39 wide, with a height of 64 meters above the sea.

Beylerbeyi Palace: Beylerbeyi Palace is the second palace built in the Bosporus’s shores, this one in the Asian side. The palace has three main entrances, 6 large rooms and 24 rooms finely decorated. The Egyptian mats on the floors, Bohemian crystal chandeliers on the ceilings, French clocks and Chinese and Japanese porcelain are among the most important decorative elements of this building.

Çamlica Hill: This is one of the highest points of Istanbul. At the top you can admire the stunning views of the city and the Bosphorus and relax in one of its gardens and traditional cafes.
